Free Human Being and Free Time (29 January 2006)
Tom Alter explored various aspects of freedom using his
extraordinary knowledge fo Hindustani and Persian Poetry.
Often quoting Galib and contemporary Indian poets he explored
various issues like optimism, humanism and what it means to be
a free human being.
starting with the idea of optimism, quoting a contemporary poet he said
"Why do you consider a dew drop as a tear,
it is but a cradle of sunshine." |

Founded in
1994, The Ajit Foundation is a voluntary organisation working in Bikaner (Rajasthan). The
prime focus of the Foundation is the ‘Youth’. The Foundation works with young
people, helping them to learn, explore and enquire. It provides them spaces
that nurture creativity and foster a sense of social responsibility. The
objectives of the Foundation are reflected in each of its core areas of work:
• Community
Resource Centre
• Dialogue Series
• Community Libraries
• Workshops and Youth Camps
Apart from youth-centric activities, Foundation is also bringing society closer
to artisans, writers, journalists, profound artists, and dignitaries of various
walks of life through its Annual Dialogue Series.
The Foundation publishes a monthly magazine, ‘Vikalp’, which documents
the Foundation’s activities as well as those carried out by other similarly
engaged institutions. It carries features of interest to youth. It is
subscribed to by a large number of libraries, civil society organisations and
interested individuals in Rajasthan and other parts of the country. |

On the occasion of 15th anniversary of Ajit Foundation, Writer and prominent figure among the younger Indian poets Gagan Gill shared her account of her journey to Kailash-Mansarovar. Addressing the topic of her dialogue Tibet Kahan Hai : Tibet Yahan Hai ( Where is Tibet : Tibet is Here) she described her experiences of two parallel journeys from Tibet to Kailash Mansarovar. |
